Resumo: Miconia belongs to Miconieae tribe (Melastomataceae), the largest genus, having about 1,054 species. It can be recognized by the leaves without domatia, inflorescences usually terminal and not surrounded by bracts foliosas, goblet with reduced external laciniae petals with apex rounded or emarginate, never sharp, bacáceos fruit. The study was based on botanical collections of herbarium Teacher Vasconcelos Sobrinho - PEUFR, the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco and Geraldo Mariz - UFP, the Federal University of Pernambuco, which are from fragments of Atlantic Forest of the State of Pernambuco, all of which previously identified. adult leaves of Miconia species were collected, as follows: M. albicans, M. amacurensis, M. ciliata, M .. dodecandra, M. holosericea, M. hypoleuca, M. latecrenata, M. minutiflora, MI. mirabilis, and M. nervous prasina, which were analyzed by standard methods of plant anatomy. All species studied showed anticlinal walls of polygonal contour in front view, except M. hypoleucu and M latecrenata, which had the slightly sinuous, all of which have uniseriate epidermis. In general, the cuticle is thickened more in the adaxial side, which can be decorated or not. Trichomes are present on the abaxial face, in many species studied here, but there are some species that are glabrous. M. dodecandra, holosericea M., M. and M. hypoleuca mirabilis, there is a lot of star trichomes, which prevented a proper view of the abaxial surface. All rates are hipoestornáticas, and the stomata are slightly projected in relation to other epidermal cells in most species. Only in minutiflora M. and M. latecrenata these are located on the same level, and they like: anisocítico, anomocítico, diacítico and polocítico. The mesophyll was the dorsiventral type for all species. It was only constadada the presence of hypodermis in M. latecrenata. Drusen, rnonohídricos crystals were observed in many species. Characters such as striated cuticle, sinuous anticlinal walls and stellate trichomes serve to delimit some sections. While trichomes, stomata and leveling with epidermal cells, the presence of hypodermis space occupied by the palisade parenchyma, the number of layers composing the spongy parenchyma and palisade, the shape of the arc of the central rib and the number of beams that compose it are fundamental in defining the species within the sections.
