The research has the purpose of review the trajectory of the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco – UFRPE, from ideals that justified the emergence of the “Escolas Superiores de Agricultura e Medicina Veterinária de São Bento”, in 1912, and the educational practices experienced in those spaces, resulting on the secularization of the Escola Superior de Agricultura – ESA of São Bento, in 1936, when it turned to be administrated only by the Government. In this way, under the theoretical and methodological orientation of the Cultural History and concepts of the chosen categories on this research (cultural heritage, collective memory and daily life), we evoke school activities, agreements and strategies on sociability relations between the established powers – Church and State – aiming the comprehension of this historical process and the social role played by these Agrarian Institutes on the region. From this perspective, the interpretations of the Discourse Analysis (DA); of the French current, which privileges theconstructed meanings on the discourse and the production ways; of the interdiscourse and the intertextuality gave support to the study of the documentary corpus. With the deconstruction of discourses, we could understand the constructed meanings on the speeches of men that weaved the fist lines of this path. On this research, we didn’t make a collection of quantitative data for measuring the reaching and effectiveness that subsidize a evaluation of the agricultural knowledge of the academicians. We propose, instead, with the methodological perspective, to situate historically the process, through the documentary analysis and the bibliography about the subject, and identify the reasons, experiences, senses and meanings of this educational support as a cultural practice and a political tool. Therefore, we wanted to offer to UFRPE’s academic community a reference for the construction of its historicity and identity, considering that, when we question the preservation inserted in the dynamics of History, we come to a better understanding of how the historical culture is created. With this purpose, we highlight the important role of collective memory in the path of the configuration of the Faculdades de São Bento and its necessary inclusion into the field of historical knowledge of cultural heritage. |
