Resumo: |
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of replacing corn by Manipueira corrected with urea and ammonium sulphate in diets on intake and digestibility of nutrients , pH, production of volatile fatty acids ( VFA) , ammonia nitrogen ( N - NH3 ) and grazing behavior . We used five male sheep, adult, castrated without defined breed, rumen, with average weight of 50Kg. The animals were randomly divided into 5 x 5 Latin square, divided into five sub-periods of 17 days, and 10 of diet adaptation and seven days of collection. The treatments consisted of increasing levels (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 %) Manipueira corrected with urea and ammonium sulphate replacing corn. Intake and apparent digestibility were negatively altered when the corn was replaced by cassava. The substitution did not change the pH, with mean values of 6.7 and VFA concentrations with mean values of 38.35% for acetate, propionate and 12.88 to 6.82 % for butyrate. There was no interaction between the levels of replacement and collection times, but both pH and VFA was influenced by collection time. The values of NH3-N were satisfactory for maintaining the rumen environment around 18.31 mg/100mL a reduction of the time spent on food and feed efficiency due to the intake of neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and efficiencies rumination on the basis of dry matter intake and NDF. It is necessary to carry out further studies to better detail, because it is still a subject little studied. |
