Resumo: The cultures of agronomic interest suffer with great infestations of whitefly, species Bemisia tabaci biotype B. Those infestations have been promoting economic losses due to the direct and indirect damages. The direct damages are characterized by the appearance of physiologic anomalies with alterations in the vegetative and reproductive development of the cultures. On the other hand, the indirect damages show for the appearance of fungus saprophytic that interfere in the process photosynthetic of the plants, besides presenting the capacity to transmit diseases you turn, as the geminivirus. With relationship to the damages provoked by the whitefly biotype B, several control strategies have been adopted objectifying to minimize the agricultural losses. Seeking an alternative to the synthetic insecticides, the use of products of vegetable origin has been revealing a promising source for the control of B. tabaci biotype B. Among those vegetable products, the essential oils have been presenting promising results with relationship to the effects in the repellence, inhibition of the feeding and of the growth, alterations in the sexual behavior, the adults' sterilization, mortality in the immature or adult phase, amongother characteristics for the control of the pest. This work objectified to evaluate the insecticide potential of the essential oil of the peel of six species of Citrus, cultivated in Santana of Mundaú - AL, on B. tabaci biotype B. The oil of C. limon promoted 97% of mortality in the concentrationof 4.5μL/L of air. The values of the CL50 of the oils of Citrus and eugenol varied of 0.20 to 5.80 μL/L of air. The minimum concentrations of oil tested to promote the oviposition deterrence were: 1.0; 3.0; 3.5; 3.7 and 7.0μL/L of air of the oil of C. reticulata, C. sinensis x C. reticulata, C. aurantium, C. limon and C. sinensis, respectively. With base in the biological potential of the oils of Citrus, the accomplishment of investigative studies facilitated to verify that the activity fumigant of those oils essential is promising for the control of the B. tabaci.
