Resumo: Considering the social and cultural mediator as an educator who works with community social groups, this work presents an analysis of experiences of social and cultural mediation. Objective, among other issues, to understand the process of social mediator training through interviews with influential educators who were analyzed and articulated with theoretical references. It was argued that participatory and dialogic processes are central and common points in the actions revealed, and bring another step in the formation of the social and cultural mediator. It is noticed the need for constant training of the social and cultural mediator, and the group journeys constitute as a field of reflexive learning and provoking new searches for efficient performance; being the mediator the greatest apprentice of all experience.
