The present dissertation has the objective of understanding the process of (re) construction of the category "italianidade" in the North of Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil, more specifically in the locality of Viadutos, in the period of 1910 to 1970, where the interetnic relations are lived in the daily routine, because the region is constituted of several ethnic groups. For that, we study which elements (re) construct the "italianidade" in the relation of alterity established with the "others". Through the study of the elements by which the category "italianidade" was built and itself constructed, we show up their manifestation and exaltation in the interetnic relation, as well how the assertion and construction of the positive idea that it involves, in other words, to represent ethnic supremacy in the locality of Viadutos and for the context-system. It is through the study of the (re) construction of the "italianidade", by means of the interetnic relation, that the motivations that drive the "italianidade" to be recognized as ethnic supremacy can be understood
