Resumo: |
The objective of this present research is to investigate the education proposal developed by French enlightenment philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau for women in Emílio or Education, published in 1762, as well as to reflect on the purpose of it and, its relation with education-nature-politics. All study will be permeated by the conceptual articulation of this trinomial which is centered on Emílio, on Discurso sobre a origem e os fundamentos da desigualdade entre os homens mainly, also abbreviated as Segundo Discurso, and O Contrato Social. The main questioning is to investigate if women are included in citizenship in Rousseau; and how they deal with education. The starting point that will lead to the investigation is Book V of Emílio. In this book, Rousseau bases and traces a pedagogical project, specific to Sofia, preparing her to be Emílio s wife. The education offered to Sofia is an education that shall keep her in an eternal state of minority, leaving her in the threshold of knowing and power, unlike the education offered to Emílio who will be prepared to be a man and a citizen. Such thesis will lead us to mark zero of Roussea s theory; Segundo Discurso, in which we will review how men and women lived in a state of pure nature and transition, bringing up inconsistencies in his theory, such as the conceptual references of human nature, used by the author when writing his pedagogical project to Emílio and Sofia; as well as structuring the new model of society. The thesis, which will result from this research, is that women are excluded from an effective citizenship in Rousseau; hence there is the need for distinct educational projects to Sofia and Emílio. In this sense, it is believed that Rousseau, during a period of rupture with the Old Regime and beginning of the New Regime, takes a position when defending the difference and inequality between genders, legitimizing the modern patriarchy. It is not intended here to take a closed position on this theme, but provoke a discussion, reasserting the commitment with the fight for the women recognition as a subject of rights |
