Resumo: The present study aimed at studying the development of biofilm through the microcosm technique on titanium surface, as well as on the surface of standardized disks of enamel/dentin, in order to compare the biofilm s formation on both surfaces and at different times. It also had the objective of analyzing the surface roughness of the materials before and after the experiment, and the pH level of the culture medium. Testing the hypothesis that this is a feasible and low cost model. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey α = 0.05 tests. The analyses showed no statistical difference between the initial and final roughness averages. The biofilm was higher on the enamel/dentin surface with a peak increase in 24 hours. The pH became more alkaline in the course of time and showed to be more basic in 48 hours. More analyses are needed to test the experimental competence of the model; however, the data suggest that the presented model should be analyzed within 48 hours, and more comparative studies of the surfaces should be done in order to justify the difference in the biofilm formation which was higher in the samples of dental tissue
