Resumo: |
The objective of this study was to evaluate different local treatment strategies in association to an ostearticular regenerative complex (ORC) for bone regeneration in dehiscence defects. The hypothesis to be tested is that using hydroxyapatite with the ORC will increase osteoconduction in dehiscence defects. Twelve dogs received 4 dental implants in the right femur and bone defects (4 mm height x 4 mm width) were created and treated as follow: only covered by the clot (Clot); reabsorbable membrane (Mem); hidroxyapatite (HA) and hydroxyapatite covered with membrane (HA+Mem). Six dogs received one pill of the ORC daily. After 90 days, implants were retrieved and the tissues formed analyzed. Results were statistically analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey's test with 5% significance level. ORC was not able to promote a significant increase in any of the parameters evaluated. HA+Mem presented the higher height of bone formation (4.13 mm) when compared to Clot (3.49 mm) and Mem (3.36 mm), but statistically similar to HA (4.13 mm). There was no difference regarding the quantity of bone formed among the four local treatments. HA and HA+Mem presented higher bone-implant-contact values (275 µm and 269 µm, respectively) than Clot (175 µm). The hypothesis was rejected since the use of ORC was not able to enhance none of the parameters evaluated. On the other hande, HA, whether associated or not to Mem, was able to increase bone height formation and bone-implant-contact. |
