In order to evaluate the cognitive and physical ageing in elderly people who live in country and city area, accomplished this base population study. It treats from the research Conditions of life and health on elderly inhabitants who lives in a town in South of Brazil . Information was analyzed using inferential and descriptive survey. To check matching between categorical variables it used chi-square test by Pearson in meaning level of 5% and logistical regression in settled analyses in a meaning level of p≤0,05. 420 elderly people joined on this study. Results are showed in two scientific works. The scientific work I had the aim of checking the relation between elderly inhabitants in country and city and their social demographical variables, health and social and family support. The main results show a prevalence ratio of having companionship support in country increases 3.11 times. Living in country decrease their prevalence ratio to have a better school level (OR: 0.79; 0.41; 0.13 for 1 to 3; 4 to 7 and 8 years or more in studies). The prevalence ratio of a elderly person who lives in country fall over increases 1.99 times. The epidemiological profile has shown in this survey that country and city have different features as well as social demographical features, health and family support conditions which elderly people are exposed, can cause some influence on ageing process. The scientific work II had the aim of checking some factors associated to a better cognitive performance among elderly people without cognitive injuries. After the analysis remain as associated factors for a better cognitive performance: companionship conditions (not lonely) (RP=0.33 IC95%: 0.16-0.69), satisfaction with life (RP = 0.45 IC95%: 0.22-0.92) and physical activity (RP= 0.52 IC95%: 0.34-0.81). Actions focused to stimulate physical activities and social living can help to improve or maintain for a better cognitive performance in elderly people |
