Valores na escola : das proposições dos documentos oficiais às vivências de professores e dos alunos no cotidiano

Resumo: This study investigates, from high school teachers report of the Escola Agrotécnica Federal de Concórdia (SC) EAFC, the values that occur in their educational practices, in the environment of the school and in the students as well as the relation among these values and those ruled by the educational legislation and by the documents of the schools. This investigation tried to identify how this process happens according to three kinds of values: interpersonal, curricular and institutional. From the results we observed that, according to the legislation the school must develop values such as ethics, respect, justice, dialog, solidarity, democratic living, and tolerance among others. These values are the aims to be reached in the school. However, the strategies, methodologies or projects to the development of these values are not clear in the school project. Even so, we observed that the formation of the values are not in a planned and systematic way through students and teachers interaction and by the influence of the environment due to the context of the school. The data show that, overall, there are differences among the values that the students present when they enter school and when they leave it. As they enter they show respect, solidarity and tolerance, but when they finish their course they are more competitive, individualists, intolerants and arrogant. Teachers believe this change happens due to attitude and several factors: there isn t a specific project to deal the issue; there is incoherence among the aims of the documents and the administrative and pedagogical processes; because of the occult norms established by students mainly in the housing: due to homesick; lack of guidance to the teenagers issues and to the poor teachers knowledge to do this kind of work. Overall, the study shows that the values are still a great challenge in the schools, and this problem must be faced in an efficient and planned way
