This descriptive and exploratory study aimed to analyze the nature of motivational factors elderly and its relationship with the variable gender and different age groups in a physical exercise program. The study was conducted by the union of literature and exploratory research. Was used as an instrument for data collection Inventory Motivation for Physical Activity Regular practice (IMPRAF -54), applied to a non-probabilistic sample of 57 elderly participants in the Physical Activity Program for Seniors (PROFIT). We used descriptive statistics with measures of mean and standard deviation when applied to the data. To investigate the differences between the scores of IMPRAF -54 and the gender variable Student t test was used and between age groups ANOVA was used. Was adopted for all analyzes the significance level of 5 % (p <0, 05). The results show how motivational factors Health, Sociability and Pleasure. Women had higher scores on the subscale Stress Control. In this perspective, we suggest further studies in order to qualify the exercise programs where they can be configured as conducive to the development environments of self-determination, given the motivational expectations of this phase of human development |
