Resumo: | The sports universe is characterized as a typical male environment. Prejudice still permeates the woman reality, even her being in a constant search for greater recognition. In the cases when the woman image is not associated to sexual elements or her sucess as an athlete is not conditioned to her beauty, the news relate the feminine behavior to fragility or lack of emotion control. That said, although the women presence as professional athletes in Olympic Games has been increasing, they still suffer from discrimination that values other elements in their athletic performance detriment. In this essay, we aim to understand the female participation historic in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
