Resumo: |
Neonatology is an expanding specialty in Veterinary Medicine, and the research articles are generally about neonatal viability and determination of prognosis. There is a few studies in lamb, and it's still necessary to establish normal standards to the ovine species. In those, lactate evaluation has been used for obstetrics and neonatology, and sometimes like experimental model for human medicine. This study aimed to describe the lactate, glucosis, creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase concentrations at carotid and jugular blood, and cerebrospinal fluid of healthy lamb. 15 clinacally normal lambs were used, and the samples were obtained at 24 hours after birth, and then 14 days after birth. Differences were found in the variables glucosis at carotid, and glucosis at cerebrospinal fluid, at 24 hours and 14 days, suggesting that the 14 days old animals have more matured energetic metabolism mechanism, and more stable variables. |
