Resumo: The Carnival of São Luiz do Paraitinga is one of the best known and most sought after Brazil. The festival presents positive and deleterious. The aim of this study was to survey and analyze its main aspects, from a perspective of promoting sustainability in its various dimensions. Therefore, we conducted a mapping of actors were identified and the specifics of their involvement and their interests, using interviews and participant observation. We surveyed the strengths and weaknesses of the party, through dynamic and interviews with key stakeholders. The opinion of visitors and residents was the object of sample surveys, which were treated with descriptive and inductive statistical tools. Partial results indicate key points to promote sustainability Carnival luizense both in technical aspects and in aspects of coexistence democratic and participatory institutions.
