Resumo: |
This research evaluated the applicability of electrical resistivity and induced polarization geophysical methods in recognizing a mineral occurrence that consists of partially outcropping manganese oxides in Careaçu, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The area has been researched by Companhia de Pesquisa e Recursos Minerais (CPRM – Company of Research and Mineral Resources) within Heliodora sheet map, in order to draft a report for the Programa Levantamentos Geológicos Básicos do Brasil (PLGB – Brazilian Basic Geological Surveys Program). In that report are described Manganese mineralizations contained within lenses of gondites, which are embedded in gneisses and quartzites. As there are few geophysical survey applied to oxides, this research was conducted to provide more information about the topic. To do this, four lines of 240 meters each were investigated by the electrical resistivity method. The 2D inversion models indicate that the average resistivity and high chargeability results were related to evidences of manganese oxide disseminated in soil, and the high chargeability and low resistivity results were related to the outcropping mineral occurrence along another line |
