Resumo: This study aims to analyze the possible contributions of Musical activities to the environmental awareness of 9 and 10 year-old children, who take part in a Complementary Educational Program, in Itápolis City, São Paulo State. Five activities used in six meetings were developed. The meetings happened in different places in the city: in the vicinities of a stream, at a leisure area, in the City Ecological Park, at a square and at a food industry, and also at the Complementary Educational Center. The activities were based on Schafer's (2001 and 2011) and Fonterrada's studies (2004). Both authors have thought about the musical language and its relation with the environment, making use of the soundscape concept, and such activities were developed according to the guidelines of Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais PCN (National Curricular Parameters - Environment (Brazil, 2001). The dada were gathered through participating observation, using field notes, and also audio and video recordings. The results were organized in categories established based on the results and their relations with the study's specific goals. We concluded the Musical activities provided knowledge about different soundscapes and they made the students able to notice the environment more sensitively, and also to their comprehension of environmental issues
