Resumo: | Periplaneta americana's (Linnaeus, 1758) species is an urban pest capable of carrying pathogens to human habitations, depreciating food, clothing and documents. Control strategies of the organism with less environmental risk can be used, such as entomopathogenic fungi with potential in control of their oothecae, which is the stage of higher spreading of the insect. The geographical structure in which the cockroaches live can lead to population subdivisions, with effects on pathogenicity and virulence of entomopathogenic. The objective of this study was to determine the level of genetic diversity of P. americana's populations of two cities of São Paulo and evaluate the control efficiency of P. americana's females and ootheace after treatment with synthetic insecticides and entomopathogenic fungi. Both populations showed a high level of segregation, with differences in their mortality. The use of fungi Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschnikoff, 1879) and Beauveria bassiana (Bals.-Criv.) Vuill. (1912) was less effective in the control of P. americana's females than spraying containing insecticide lambdacyhalothrin in the first field application. M. anisopliae showed promising results in control of P. americana's oothecae and females, indicating its potential use in integrated pest management programs for this insect |
