Resumo: | This study aimed to evaluate landrace maize genotypes with resistance characteristics Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith, 1797) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) to identify the categories and levels of resistance. The experiment were conducted at UNESP / FCAV in the Departamento de Fitossanidade, Laboratório de Resistência de Plantas a Insetos. The experiments of non-preference for feeding and antibiosis were conducted in laboratory, under conditions of temperature 25 ± 2 °C, relative humidity of 70 ± 10% and 12h photophase. The experiment of non-preference for oviposition were conducted in the greenhouse. The non-preference for feeding on 20 maize genotypes were evaluated, 18 genotypes of maize landraces, one genotype trait of resistance and one commercial variety - witness. The genotypes were arranged in two groups - I and II, distributed of grain characteristic color (yellow, red and white), keeping the genotype used as pattern of resistance Zapalote Chico in both groups. Tests were performed the free-choice and no-choice. For the free-choice feeding assay we used the randomized blocks design and for the no-choice test assay we used the completely randomized design, with 30 replicates each. From the results obtained, the 11 highlighted landraces maize genotypes with characteristics of resistance and susceptibility and the commercial variety, forming the experiment with the group III. In all experiments, were evaluated attractiveness of third instar larvae of S. frugiperda leaf rectangles (genotype leaf sections) in tests free-choice and no-choice and leaf area consumed. The attractiveness of the larvae were evaluated at 1, 5, 15, 30, 60, 180, 720 and 1440 minutes after releasing them. After feeding of larvae, leaf area consumed were evaluated. The consumed leaf rectangles were conducted to leaf area meter and the difference of the total area of the leaf rectangle without consumption and consumed rectangle was obtained consumed leaf ... |
