Resumo: | This investigation is linked to the research line Society, Knowledge, and Education, of the Graduate Program in Education, master's level, at the State University of Western Paraná (UNIOESTE), Francisco Beltrão. The research has as the object of study Higher Education in Palmas-PR, between 1968 and 2010. The first institution of higher education in Palmas resulted from an initiative of the local Catholic Church and had the active participation of the community, being authorized to operate by the Federal Decree nº 63.583/68 and recognized by Federal Decree nº 72.452/73. The institution is of great importance when it comes to local and regional history, as it was the first in the Southwest region to offer this type of education, being responsible for training thousands of teachers and professionals who worked at the region. In the research we seek to understand the process of the constitution of higher education in Palmas-PR, explaining the historical, organizational, and formative aspects of the institution between 1968 and 2010. We aim to understand the historical scenario of Palmas-PR in the period by establishing relationships between the national policy for higher education and the development of teaching in Palmas-PR; build/rebuild the historicity of the institution's development; explain and analyze the organizational and training aspects that characterized the institution's performance. The methodology had a qualitative historiographical approach of a bibliographic and documental nature with field research. We used as sources, laws, notices, articles in newspapers, minutes, books, articles, and various documents, as well as interviews with former students and teachers. The developed analyses followed the method of historicaldialectical materialism, as an epistemological research conception, in the sense of identifying and analyzing the actions and events throughout the process, from implantation to the transformation process at the Federal Institute of Paraná. We can say that the institution's performance in the period was fundamental for the economic, social, and educational development of the region. We are aware that this research brings new facts and analyses, which expand knowledge about the role of this institution, with this, recent debates and research will be stimulated, thus increasing historical knowledge about the institution and our own region. |
