Resumo: This dissertation aims to identify the key elements of social construction around the configuration of the peasant economy in the Urabá Antioqueño (Colombia), through a comprehensive analysis of its formal and non-formal institutions. For this, the methodologies of the actor-oriented perspective of Norman Long (2007) and the Actor-Red Theory of Bruno Latour (2005) were used together, plus the historical account of several secondary sources and the results of the fieldwork done in the region in 2014, as well as the analyses of the sociology of rural development, among others. The research showed that the social construction that took place in Urabá at a historical level, determined in a decisive way the configuration of its rural development and, especially, of its peasant economy, characterized by the proletarianization of the peasantry, the expansion of the agricultural frontier as a consequence of the enclave economies, and poverty.
