Resumo: | The generation of syngas, consisting mainly of hydrogen gas (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO) has attracted attention because it is an energetic alternative to use of biomass, this produced gas can be used in the thermal generation of electricity, In obtaining hydrogen gas and in the chemical transformation industry to obtain basic raw materials, as the global demand for energy is increasing and social awareness measures are countered on the consequences of global warming it becomes necessary to search for alternative sources. In this sense, research involving materials that are used as adsorbents or transformers of carbon monoxide aimed at reducing intoxications for living beings, occupational health of workers and environmental contamination need to be encouraged. The present work explores the use of the aminpentacianoferrate potassium complex as a reagent in the removal of carbon monoxide. Synthesized from potassium nitroprusside, the aminpentacianoferrate complex was tested in the reaction with CO using hypodermic polypropylene syringes of 50 mL (covered with light protection material due to the instability of the solution in front of it) inserted in a thermostated Solab (± 1.0 °C). The carbon monoxide gas was collected directly from the cylinder by means of a Tedlar® bag (polyvinyl fluoride), which was used to collect the aminpentacianoferrate complex dissolved in purified water solutions, sodium hydroxide 0.1 mol L-1, 0.1 mol L-1 tris-HCl buffer at pH 7.0 and 0.1 mol L-1 potassium phosphate buffer pH 7.0 at 15 and 30 minutes times and at temperatures of 15 and 25 °C. All assays were performed in duplicates. The collected data showed that the aminpentacianoferrato complex can be used as a complexing agent for carbon monoxide in aqueous medium and in 0.1 mol L-1 NaOH medium. The reaction presents linear correlation and other gases tested do not interfere, indicating this substance as a CO remover of the medium in different applications, as gasifier or preventively in heating systems by combustion, avoiding contaminations by incomplete burning. |
