Resumo: The research aimed to analyze the structure and performance of the cross-border networks of cigarette smuggling on the border between Paraguay and Brazil, notably between Salto del Guairá (Canindeyú), Paraguay and Guaíra (Paraná) Brazil. It proposes to address the influence and challenges that this illegal activity causes in the local and international sphere. Reflection results from lectures and theoretical debates that were developed in the course of this investigation. It focuses on making a characterization of the problem and of the spatial clipping in the border of Paraguay with Brazil, in the temporality between 1970 and 2016. The methodology used consisted of exploratory, bibliographic, documentary and field research, integrating the concepts and categories pertinent to the problematic of analysis, based on the theoretical and conceptual basis, based on the geographical categories of territory, territoriality, border and network. The research aimed at analyzing and describing the cross-border networks that support cigarette smuggling, along with the actors involved in this issue. Cigarettes are now Paraguay's most smuggled merchandise to Brazil, and entry to this illegal activity has been increasingly attractive to many young people and children who are involved in this illegal network. The results are based on baseline and data analysis, which aims to contribute with contemporary information to support the studies pertinent to the networks and to these cross-border territorialities.
