Resumo: | In considering the growing economic performance of aquaculture and the relevance of this sector for the generation of employment, income and promotion of social equality, this study aims to identify the main determinants for the competitiveness and sustainable development of the productive chain in the west of Paraná. The identification of these factors contributes to the development of policies favorable to the sector and allows identifying the best conditions for strengthening all the links that make up the productive chain. In order to do so, the study proposes to point out a hierarchical structure of strategies aimed at increasing competitiveness in the supply chain, from the perspective of the agents that work in the sector, as well as to develop a chain planning model that addresses social issues, economic and environmental with the purpose of proposing preferential scenarios of the design of this important agroindustrial segment of the west of Paraná. The hierarchical scaling of variables was subjected to multicriteria decision analysis using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and the results indicated that the alternatives with the greatest potential to increase the competitiveness of the chain consist of improvements in industrial processing, as well as in the development of better management techniques in agricultural production, obtaining a representativeness of 36% and 17%, respectively. In relation to the best design of the chain, the results showed that the adoption of a modality of intermodal road and rail transportation between Toledo, Curitiba and São Paulo, as well as the expansion of these markets, would allow a better economic performance of the chain without increasing the environmental and with low social cost. For this, the General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS) was used, a computational system that models mathematical operations, much used in the resolution of linear and nonlinear equations, as well as in several specific types of high level problems. |
