The fish industry is one of the economy sectors in great expansion and, together with the growth, generates numerous waste. In this context, the study aimed to evaluate the water consumption in the production processes of tilapia industrialization, and the effluent generated from fish processing companies of western Paraná, aiming at reducing the environmental impacts of the activity. Semi-structured interviews with representatives of fifteen fish processing companies of Western Paraná were conducted. According to the results, the fish processing companies have an average of 14.98 L of water consumption for producing 1kg of processed fillet. In general, the effluents are not monitored, being necessary improvements in that target process and effluent treatment, preventing environmental impacts resulting from industrialization of tilapia
