Resumo: In this work we made the analysis of labor categories and employability that exist in public policies for Professional Education, especially in the programs PROEJA (Programa Nacional de Integração da Educação Profissional com a Educação Básica na Modalidade de Educação de Jovens e Adultos); e-TEC system Brazil (Escola Técnica Aberta do Brasil) and PRONATEC (Programa Nacional de Acesso ao Ensino Técnico). Our aim is to identify how these categories are presented in these programs and ascertain the convergences and differences among them. In the first chapter we introduced our survey reporting how our object of study was defined and the organization of the survey itself. In the second chapter we tried to rescue the history of professional education in Brazil, aiming the comprehension of the historical, political, economical, educational context and the organization of these policies throughout history and educational politics in Brazil, to realize its current situation. We also tried to conceptualize the job categories and employability based on studies about professional education, taking these concepts as the base for the identification of these categories in the programs that will be analyzed. The third chapter is dedicated to show and analyze programs PROEJA, e-TEC and PRONATEC, implemented for Professional Education, focused on the inclusion of young people and adults in the formal and non-formal educational space, and in the world of work. Based on primary available sources and surveys concerned to professional education policies we analyzed the work categories and employability, identifying how they are presented in the programs. In the last chapter, organized as final conclusions, we look for rebuild the steps of the developed analysis, as well as to rescue the proposed issues during the search, trying to answer these questions and explaining how the work categories and employability are being incorporated in policies for professional education.
