The methodology used was the bibliographical research and the qualitative-quantitative research, which allows a better vision and understanding of the context of the problem together with the quantification of the data and the application of a statistical analysis. Sustainability, environmental education, sustainable rural development, legal reserve, establishing a link between the last three. The survey asked about the legal reserve as one of the instruments to achieve sustainable rural development and how the panorama on this subject in the region is studied. The results attest that social actors responsible for promoting environmental education in family farming do not do so. Consequently, with the legal imposition and penalties provided, rural producers are obliged to comply with the legal requirement due to the tax nature of the legislation and not because of an environmental awareness. In the region surveyed, it has been demonstrated that environmental education and environmental legislation are fundamental instruments for environmental preservation that have not been intertwined.
