Resumo: | The present research aims to understand the process of molasses production by family agro-industries in the municipality of Capanema, Paraná, using Actor-Network Theory (ANT) and the Sociotechnical System as theoretical bases. The research explores the interaction between human and non-human actors, as well as the technologies involved in the industrialization of molasses, a traditional product of the region that recently obtained Geographical Indication (GI) certification. The study employs a qualitative approach, involving document analysis and interviews with local producers, technicians, and other relevant actors. The results indicate that molasses production in Capanema has undergone significant evolution, both technologically and socially. The introduction of new technologies has contributed to product standardization and increased production efficiency, while cooperativism and the creation of the GI have strengthened cooperation networks among producers, improving commercialization and market competitiveness. However, challenges such as the need to adapt to technological innovations and infrastructure limitations persist, requiring continuous attention to ensure the sector's sustainability. The research concludes that the development of molasses in Capanema exemplifies the complexity of interactions between technology, society, and economy in the context of sustainable rural development. The observed technological and organizational changes not only impacted the production and commercialization of molasses but also promoted a strengthening of local cultural identity, reaffirming the importance of public policies that encourage innovation and cooperativism in small agricultural communities. |
