Resumo: The insertion of pharmacists in Primary Health Care (PHC) in SUS pharmacies is still very recent, when compared to other health professionals with their work and skills already structured. This recent context motivates the construction of a new professional identity for the pharmacist to act beyond the traditional medication management, but also with an approach focused on pharmaceutical care. In addition to the paths to be built by this professional, other contexts can be pointed out interfering in this insertion and construction process. The territory in which this pharmacist is inserted can directly and indirectly influence the development of their duties on a daily basis. The objective of this research was to carry out the mapping of clinical competencies for the performance of pharmacists who work in primary health care in a municipality located in a border region. The study is a descriptive, exploratory research with a qualitative and quantitative approach carried out in three stages. In the 1st stage, a document analysis was carried out to identify the clinical competencies of pharmacists working in PHC based on a scoping review. In the 2nd stage, the application of the pharmacist's competence assessment instrument “Global Competency Framework (GbCF)” took place. Also at this stage, semi-structured individual interviews took place. In the 3rd stage, the identification of gaps or gaps between the required skills and those that were expressed from the questionnaire and the speeches. The data collection period was from February to June 2022. Descriptive statistics were used to characterize the participating individuals. The non-parametric Fischer's Exact test was used to assess the competences expressed by pharmacists. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare the groups of interest, and finally, Fisher's DMS test was used to identify the highest average between the compared groups. Bardin's thematic content analysis was applied to evaluate the interviews. The research had the participation of 26 pharmacists who work in the APS of Foz do Iguaçu, with a predominance of females (75%) and title level of specialization (73.1%). The average age of participants was 42.2 years. Half of the participating pharmacists have professional experience of one to ten years directly related to care. Evaluating the competences according to the four domains present in the GbCF, the areas of competences analyzed were quite uniform, showing that, in general, the competences are more performed than not performed by pharmacists. There was only a weakness in the performance of competencies in the public health domain. The mapping allowed the identification of some competencies expressed by the pharmacists participating in the research. Knowing the public policies of neighboring countries and the border region, knowing about epidemiological aspects of the region and having a basic command of the Spanish language are skills gaps that, if developed, tend to favor the daily life of pharmaceutical services that work in primary care in the region border.
