Resumo: | The present study approaches the strategic management of hospital organizations using Business Activity Monitoring (BAM). Therefore, it aims to propose a model for the adoption of BAM in the strategic management of hospital organizations aiming at organizational sustainability. The research consisted of interaction and implementation of BAM in a hospital organization, through a single case study. Previous studies contributed to the elaboration of propositions (five) that justify and contribute to the research process. For data collection, bibliographic and empirical references were used, which allowed the realization of a single case study, with access and analysis of data/information/reports, participant observation, meetings and support to/from teams of employees from specific areas demanded from the hospital organization object of the study, allowing to improve its management, achieve the proposed objectives and support the elaborated propositions. The analyzes explore the status quo of the management of hospital organizations and possible existing management tools and techniques, which would allow the application of BAM in line with their needs if used in an orderly way, validating the predicted proposals. The results include an analysis of the structure and management adopted by a hospital organization and the application of BAM supported by the use of tools and techniques with a view to strategic management. In empirical terms, the study differs by bringing a model (step by step) for application by managers of hospital organizations or organizations from other economic sectors, impacting the speed and quality of decision making by providing critical indicators in real time performance of business activities. |
