Resumo: This dissertation presents a case study, organized in 06 chapters and is linked to the research line Management, Education and Public Policies of the Post-Graduation Program in Education of La Salle University. It aims to produce knowledge about the education model of South Korea, analyzing the relationship between this model and the Brazilian one, assuming that these were already very similar countries regarding the low socioeconomic and educational indexes, but they ended up following different paths and are increasingly distant in terms of education. In addition, the two countries belong to the group of nations of recent industrialization that have sought to overcome their economic condition and have developed industrialization as their mainstay of development in order to become emerging regional powers. This dissertation gives an overview of South Korea's educational policy, contextualizing it with a brief history of the country, highlighting the main strategies that have led to the improvement of the performance of its students and in counterpart establishes the same analytical trajectory in relation to the Brazil in order to verify the possibility of adopting some similar strategies, with a view to improving the Brazilian educational system. The dissertation highlights three factors that contributed to the improvement in the South-Korean educational context: the educational management, the appreciation of teachers and the active participation of the family in the children's school life. The study was based on the theoretical assumptions of Anísio Teixeira, Naercio Menezes-Filho, Luiz Fernandes Dourado and Maria Lúcia de Arruda Aranha to establish relations with studies on the education and culture of South Korea by Ennio Candotti and Yun Kyung Cha. Data and indicators provided by research entities and concepts of national and international regulatory frameworks for education are also used. Based on findings from the research. The study attributed the jump in South Korea's educational performance, among other factors, to a perceived value of education in South Korea, by society as a whole, so this seems to be an advantageous differential between South Korea and Brazil. We can also attribute to the de-bureaucratization and autonomy in the educational system the success of the South Korean educational model, added to the strong investment and articulation of the corporations and governmental organizations in favor of education, showing that the South Koreans are obstinate by the education, due to the sense of 10 ancestry and collectivity. On the other hand, although we have obtained some indications that Brazilians understand the need for good educational training in the fight for good jobs and better living conditions, there is no conviction that this is a unanimous thought as it is for a good part of the South- Koreans.
