This study aims to determine the occurrence of earnings management, addressing the operational activities, the quarterly financial statements for the years 2005 to 2012, presented by Industries Electricity and Oil and Gas industries. The research database was Economática, and the sample of the survey was focused on 48 industries Electricity and 8 industries of oil and natural gas. The earnings management is a much studied subject currently presenting various lines of research, and much of the addresses given them the financial statements in view of its importance for those risk-averse investors and that aims higher returns in structuring their portfolios . Much of the work published on the subject studies and analyzes public companies in general, in this sense, the study of earnings management in the Electric Power Industry, Oil and Natural Gas, presents itself as an innovator in the academic literature. The management of financial results characterized as a deliberate change in the results in order to achieve and meet a particular motivation, thus providing a positive effect to the stock price and improving the market's view of the company. From the result of this research, it can be stated that the waste models feature an abnormal level of cost of sales and general, administrative and selling expenses, suggesting a control and manipulation of accounting information from operational decisions related to the level of production and sales, underscoring the disclosure of accounting information management. |
