Resumo: This present research evidences structural questions for reflection on the models of Distance Education that have been practiced, as well as reflection on the role of the university in front of this context. The research suggests an articulation of these reflections on the role of the university and the programs developed in the Distance Education modality, comprising these as important strategies of professional formation for regions where Campi of presential formation are not possible, in addition to contributions on innovation and new technologies that comes of educational processes mediated by WEB. The research methodology fits into the paradigm of qualitative methodology. The universe of this research consists of 15 individuals egress on courses offered in distance learning modality through the application of a questionnaire and reaching its results by the criterion of saturation and data analysis developed in the context of sociological method. The evidence is that the graduation courses offered in distance learning modality propels the university to a reflection on their own role in face of the changes in the means of access to information and the construction of knowledgement in addition to their identity as a social institution.
