The present dissertation focus tourism as an economic inductor that consecutively generates income to rural proprieties situated in municipalities of the State of Bahia. Tourism activity, generally saying, can be considered as important both in terms of employment development and of income increase of a population that inhabits a certain region. The rural environment, rich for its patrimony and its culture, is characterized for its natural resources abundance that, by its turn, is susceptible of attracting people that are looking for leisure, for rest, as well as, for physical and mental recuperation. The analysis was done in the municipalities of Cachoeira and Jaguaripe in the South Recôncavo, whose economy is basically dependent in agriculture, based on sugar cane and manioc production. As a methodology, it was predominately used a qualitative approach research with descriptive-exploratory characteristic. This methodology can be justified given to the lack of studies related to rural tourism in both researched municipalities, which present a rural profile. It was researched the Tourism Offices, and the local existing farms present in the study area. For data collection it was used research techniques by means of questionnaires and structured and semi-structured interviews, in which all researched segments had full autonomy in manifesting their opinions about the proposed theme. The work s conclusions consisted in the author s interpretations of the words present in the collected statements. The public management of the observed municipalities did not give priority to tourism, which means that there is a total absence of public politics in the rural tourism area.
