The present work has as its study-object the pedagogical practice of math related subjects in Business Management courses. Thus, it was taken into consideration the importance of developing this specific skill in the future career of this professional in Higher Education Institutions of Salvador, Bahia. In order to construct the Problematization, it were analyzed both the market needs and the university-organization relation, reaching the following research problem: the increasing need of managing skills, specially the ones associated to the Math-thinking development, are corresponding to competent curricula and to the pedagogical practices developed in the Business Management Courses? As for the Theoretical Basis, it were analyzed: the professional s role at the present time; the Business Management Courses expansion; the Competency Model; the Mathematical Thought and its importance to the Management competency construction; the skills established by the National Curricula Directrix and potential skills derived from the mathematical thought to the needs of the present time. It was employed the Analytical-Descriptive research method, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, having as its agents: the Business Management Courses coordinators, teachers, students and businessmen. As for primary-data collection instruments, it were used: an interview and a diagnostic skills test, and as for the secondary-data collection, it was done documental analysis of the Business Management Courses pedagogical projects and of the existing alumni research. After done the speech analysis and checked the results of the diagnostic skills test the produced information was intersected. The results show that: the Higher Education Institutions are some how disconnected from the market needs, being, incapable, than, to prepare its alumni to the present time demands. It was seen that, these Institutions do not know how to translate into action what is established in their courses pedagogical projects documents that have a fundamental role to the organizations. It was also verified that, both teachers and coordinators do not have a pedagogical formation that allows them to plan effective activities, nor develop the necessary mathematical thought skills, for this area s subject matter are inadequate to the high fundamental skills of the manager and the Higher Education Institutions do not develop the behavior attitudes required by the present organization. |
