Resumo: This dissertation is a study of the way culture is used to contribute to the development and promotion of a Bahia tourism product, the feast of St. John in the city of Jequie whose municipality is located in the Southwest region. Analyzes the context of the relationship between globalization, new territorialities, modernity and culture. For this proceeded to a literature review, at the light of which was constructed the theoretical framework of the study. The research problem that developed was thus formulated: How strengthening cultural manifestations of tradition can enhance cultural tourism during this party? Then seeks to determine how the local population participates in this June feast can be benefited through the generation of employment and income, as well as in the provision of spaces for the presentation of their artists. The data and survey information were obtained by conducting a case study of qualitative way, with application of interviews with people involved in the event. Are also essential parts of this study the documents raised and referred and digital photographic record.
