Resumo: This paper aims to analyze a digital place for education created by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and named IBGEeduca. This place provides resources to teach Geography for children and teenagers and invests in the teachers' formation. In the last years, the technologies considerably advanced and it is worth to highlight, as a possibility of using in classroom, the Digital Educational Resources (RED). Among these are the ones in IBGEeduca, this study's focus. The definition and object of analysis of this research are: a) How IBGEeduca builds the geographical thought pursuing to teach children in Brazil? b) Which educational contents are privileged for kids? c) How these contents and digital educational resources are exposed/presented/published? and d) What is the pedagogical potential of this website to teach Geography? It is a qualitative approach, based on images, sounds and texts produced for education. The study analyzed IBGEeduca from the construction of an analysis referential, involving matters of usability/accessibility/design and contents and pedagogical aspects. It was possible to think about different aspects that concern the way and the contents from IBGEeduca, having as a parameter the potential of a public educative website to communicate/spread/compose geographical knowledge for kids. The results revealed that IBGEeduca has a great potential in presenting digital educational resources for Geography classes of children. Despite the limits, the resources available can facilitate the critical and committed action of the teacher to build a Geography learning more active, constructive, and able to escalate reasoning and geographical horizons of kids.
