This thesis work the concept of freedom from the reading of Hannah Arendt. This time, it develops a comparison between ancient liberty, inspired by the Greek polis and the modern freedom, pointing to a split of political reality. For this purpose, we analyze in detail the three activities of the Vita Activa action, labor and work, from which the pass to homo sapiens, the foundation of the public sphere and the full exercise of citizenship in a space of plurality and pluralism presents necessarily mediated by discourse. This is also the time when the word freedom gets a real feature. Still, it is demonstrated totalitarianism as a recent event and how this regime, through ideology, creates terror, individuals without creating identities. At the end, is understanding the sense that Arendt gave the Augustinian concept of Amor Mundi in The Human Condition, which closes this work.
