Resumo: This research work is based on a theoretical-practical study on Circus Art and Psychology with the aim of identifying potentialities of circus activities for human development. Initially, the influences that led the researcher, who is a circus artist and psychologist, to investigate the potential of the circus and reflect on how this artistic manifestation can be transformative for human beings and an important tool in their constitution were exposed. An integrative literature review was carried out, understanding what is produced in the field of circus arts and psychology related to psychosocial aspects and human development in circus contexts. Next, a qualitative field research was carried out in a Social Circus in the city of Uberlândia/MG (Brazil), which develops circus activities for children and young people. This study discusses transformation processes of the apprentices of this Social Circus, and emphasizes the cognitive, affective and social domain of circus art, beyond a technical or acrobatic activity. The results indicate that circus activities cover several dimensions of the individual, both physical and psychological, being a powerful tool in the constitution of these subjects and in their development.
