Resumo: | From a demographical view, the nineteen municipalities of “Region of the Railroad” {Margem da Estrada de Ferro) in the Southeast of Goiás State are rural. This claim is because most of its population lives in the countryside or small cities and villages. But most of its economical product comes from industrial activities; it is not an ordinary fact in Goiás where the raw material extraction prevails over the others. Together with this, the educational indicators of this region are, from long ago, better than those of the rest of the State and also from Brazil. Besides, the profit as well as the rural land ownership is better distributed in Region of the Railroad than other regions in Goiás. In the same way the familiar rural properties are in proportion more important when compared with land ownership from other regions. The result of this sum of features is that social indicators in this region are far better than the average from the others regions of this State. Their Gross Domestic Product and educational indicators are alike or even more significant, but the profit and the property are not socially distributed as well as in the Region of the Railroad. |
