Resumo: | The objective of this study was to evaluate the finishing and polishing of different abrasive matrix systems and the influence of the water soluble gel associated to the additional polymerization on the interproximal surface quality of a nanohybrid composite resin. A convex device was designed and turned into polyacetal to allow the finishing and polishing of the specimens, simulating the convexity of the interproximal surface. Eight specimens of composite resin were allocated in 8 groups (n = 10), according to: photopolymerization with matrix of polyester in position (Matrix); abrasion by Epitex matrix system (Epi); abrasion by Sof-Lex matrix system (Sof) and absence of finishing and polishing, as control group (C). The same groups were repeated with the presence of the water-soluble gel (WSG) associated to the additional polymerization (WSG-Matrix, WSG-Epi; WSG-Sof; WSG-C). The specimens were prepared and stored in distilled water under light at 37ºC for 24hrs. The method of quantitative evaluation of the surface roughness was the rugosimeter. The qualitative analyzes were performed by means of atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The strips were chemically characterized by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and morphologically by SEM. The quantitative statistical analyzes (Ra / μm) of the experimental groups were performed using two-way ANOVA and Tukey test (α=0.05). The control group was compared with the experimental groups by analysis of variance (two-way ANOVA) and Dunnet's test (α=0.05). The qualitative evaluation of the MEVs was performed by the KurskalWallis test and one-way ANOVA on ranks. There was a statistically significant difference between the control group and the other experimental groups (p<0.001), however, with no difference between them (p=0.292). The qualitative analysis of the microscopies showed a difference between the experimental groups (p<0.001), and the groups Matrix and WSG-Matrix were different from the WSG-C, WSG-EPI and C groups and the others were similar to each other. It is concluded that the finishing and polishing with abrasive strips associated to the inhibition of oxygen with water soluble gel, created a more homogeneous and polished interproximal surface. |
