Resumo: | This study aims to identify how female entrepreneurship is configured by necessity in the Triângulo Mineiro region, based on the theoretical perspective of effectuation. Female entrepreneurship is an important tool for the empowerment and insertion of women in the labor market, reducing inequality, and eradicating gender oppression. Based on this context, this work seeks answers to the following research problem: how are the particularities of female entrepreneurship out of necessity in companies in the Triângulo Mineiro region? Therefore, the general objective of the research is to comprehend the singularities of female entrepreneurship through the trajectory of women who undertook entrepreneurial activities out of necessity in the Triângulo Mineiro region, with emphasis on the “effectual” cycle. Specifically, it seeks to characterize the profile of the women entrepreneurs studied, to identify the factors that motivated female entrepreneurship in the investigated context, and to characterize the antecedents and consequences of female entrepreneurship by necessity from the effectuation. The analysis and discussion of the results allowed us to understand the individual trajectories and the motivational factors that led the female entrepreneurs to create their companies, with emphasis on the discussions on entrepreneurship by necessity and female entrepreneurship. Based on this scenario, the effectuation perspective showed how these entrepreneurs used different cognitive associations to transform available resources into entrepreneurial opportunities, giving new meaning not only to their companies, but also to their own lives as businesswomen. The notion of effectuation allowed a closer contact with the reality and with the practices performed by the interviewees and by the companies studied at a regional level, revealing a more in-depth and comprehensive analysis than observed in other studies on entrepreneurship, particularly in Brazil. Therefore, the present dissertation contributes in the sense of providing evidence about the entrepreneurial practices of women who, although motivated by the need for income, explored and identified opportunities to transform their lives by creating businesses that are currently competitive and generate important impacts in economic and social terms from a regional perspective. |
