Resumo: The aim of this inquiry is to study he hard work made by night-school elementary fifth series students, in a second moment on a nocturnal fifth grade class, in order no stay in school as well his conflict for this, a phenomenon that can be named school failure. In a first moment the study was done in perspective of students who have abandoned school, in order to verify in class day-life which were abandon factors in that year. lt was also done an intervention near to fifth grade students and teachers and dynamized. their pedagogical activities, as an evasion reduction try. Literature showed that this problem have existed since night-school creation. Historically done explanations failed in getting hidden causes, mainly for they are based on liberalist sciences, always in social dominant class service. ' By this elitist vision, education problems do not consider the excluded class reality and this is the main reason to school failure ellimination. Teachers and students are convinced that night-school student, who is black, who is poor and who works is not able to learn as the others. . This inquiry was done in a night-school placed in Uberlândia peripheral zone using: questionnaires, observing activities, interviews as well teachers and students meetings. The main conclusion is that there are extra and intra—school factors that contribute for students school abandon. But these same students have a strong desire, a great strength that obliges them to return. By the other side, there is another strength that pushes him out, emotionally stressing him in a great scale. School has failed in solving this problem. Education policies remain only a discourse level. Society is greater divided in classes and great number of poor people in this daily poorer country increases discrimination. Furthermore, this students have to work hard in order to survive and at the same time search for knowledge, one of their basic rights.
