Resumo: | The use of the electroencephalogram (EEG) in the most diverse diagnoses is a routine for clinical analysis, being much used in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This device is also used for several researches such as music therapy and continuous monitoring of patients in the ICU. However, musical stimulation with the EEG is poorly studied and there is little data available to the academic community. Another problem is the propensity of the EEG signal to be contaminated by unwanted signals. Based on these facts, this work aimed to elaborate studies with different musical stimuli and, in addition, to develop simple methods capable of attenuating noise in critical environments such as the ICU. For this, 60 EEG records were performed under six different stimulations. Subsequently studies were done with the data obtained concluding that the music generates changes that are detected by the EEG and sentimental responses in the short and long term. Another important conclusion was the differences observed in the electric brain activity involving the frequency bands Range and High Range. In parallel to these studies were developed three methods that seek to attenuate the interference of noisy signals in the EEG signal. After the tests, it is concluded that they can be applied generating good results that can aid in visual analysis by the neurologist and in the quantitative analysis performed by researchers. Thus, the implementation of noise attenuation proposed in this work aims to improve the signal collected in this critical environment, thus making it possible to perform the EEG signal collection in ICU patients, applying musical stimulation. |
