Resumo: | This work aims to discuss the preservation of heritage in small cities, studying, specifically, the municipality of Patrocínio Paulista, localized in the interior of the State of São Paulo. Considering the local particularities, it is observed the importance of a displacement of the idea that limits the heritage to monumental properties and, consequently, the safeguard instruments traditionally applied to them, and then, concentrate the view to the urban elements that are part of the cotidian of the population and local memory supports, as well as to the new instruments that are capable of covering them. Therefore, we sought, through several approaches, an approximation with the population, in order to understand what they consider the city’s heritage through their experiences. By this way, believing in the need for community involvement in heritage processes in conjunction with actions that come from the municipal government, we discuss possibilities for a more effective local heritage preservation policy . Finally, it is expected that the data collected in this research will contribute and encourage the development of this process, considering the context of small cities such as Patrocínio Paulista. |
