Resumo: | The tuberculosis affects thousands of pleople in the world, and throughout the 20th century was fundamental in the construction and replanning of many urban centers, especially in São José dos Campos – São Paulo. The present study had as a main objective to understand the reinvention of urban space from the public policies carried out during the sanatorial period of the city in question. During the Brazil’s first republic several people articulated to heal the sanitary problems, the financial impasses and the tuberculosis in the city. In addition to this aspect, the main actors – tuberculosis, physiotherapists, municipal and state authorities, along with philanthropic entities and religious foundations – responsible for several projects to minimize the impacts of the tisica in the region, as well as large ones improvements and the discovery of antituberculous cure. To approach how disease itself becomes social acts that mobilize that society. |
