This dissertation analyzes the refiguration of the year 1968. For that, it is taken the chronicles written by the journalist and literary José Carlos Oliveira, Carlinhos Oliveira (1934-1986). The chronicles that compose the corpus of research were published in 1968 in the newspaper Jornal do Brasil. We discuss, therefore, through the chronicler's writings, aspects of this year, especially the daily life marked by the authoritarianism of the military dictatorship, as well as discusses characteristics of the chronicle, here taken as a hybrid textual genre, but according to our hypothesis a narrative type capable of gathering conditions to be considered a writing form of the history of the present time. As a procedure, in order to plot the history of this year, we use the theoretical and methodological presuppositions of a history theory that recognizes in the narrative and in the historiographic operation engendered by itself a way to represent the past and the memory produced by a subject about himself. We also make use of a historiography about the period, especially the one which deals with the political and cultural scenario in Brazil during the military dictatorship (1964-1985).
