This work shows the result of the study carried out on the songs for singing and piano and handwritten libretto of Magic – The Devil´s boot by composer Chiquinha Gonzaga, the translation of the libretto, their organization and edition. We present our theoretical discussion about the concepts and references regarding the corruption of the material found, classification of the copy, text establishment, typology of errors, among other considerations that supported our analysis and editorial decisions in the sum of the editorial process of this work. Thus, we dialogue with other authors within the fields of Textual Criticism, Ecdotics and Philology.
