Resumo: | This work presents the application proposition of the bridgeless SEPIC converter in the More Electric Aircraft context by means of the providing of its design, implementation and result analysis as power factor pre regulator in HVDC power distribution systems considering the aircrafts’s AC-DC systems features. The converter’s control and sensing systems are simplified with the use of discontinuous conduction mode, which in turn presents wide application range when it is associated with SEPIC converter, which is advantageous for aircraft electrification area. The bridgeless configuration, in turn, allows a better efficiency when it is compared with the traditional SEPIC arrangement because of the conducting diodes reduction. In order to emphasize the advantages of the proposed rectifier, several AC-DC bridgeless SEPIC topologies are compared beforehand and a shortlisted converter is designed, simulated and prototyped considering a load of 500 W for performance validation in the evaluated application. In addition, the feasibility of the presented topology is demonstrated via comparison of its experimental results with the Cuk topology’s results that was recently published for More Electric Aircraft. |
