Resumo: The objective of this research is to evaluate the management plan and management (2012 - 2016) of Cerro Azul Meambar National Park (PANACAM) in Honduras to meet their potential to preserve and restore biodiversity and ecosystems of this area of environmental protection, taking a view that environmental degradation in the country leads not only to loss of biodiversity, but has influence on the economy, health and well - being of the general population. The PANACAM is located between the geographical coordinates of 14º 45\' 00\", 14º 55\' 00\" north latitude and 87º 47\' 00\", 88º 00\' 00\" of west longitude, in central of Honduras. It occupies an area of 31.339,08 hectares in the municipalities of Meámbar, Siguatepeque and Taulabé in Comayagua department and the municipality of Santa Cruz de Yojoa, in the department of Cortés. The fragmentation of natural habitats caused by agricultural occupation of small producers, logging and cattle ranches that are the main vectors of pressure on the Park. The coverage maps of land use (2003 and 2010) were prepared by supervised classification of Landsat 7 ETM + images using the software ERDAS 11 and ARCGIS 10.1. Were use as data references provided by the Institute of Forest Conservation of Honduras and the ONG Global Village Project. Were also performed Interviews with staff from the Department of Wildlife and Protected Areas ICF - PAG in January 2013. The rate of deforestation in the Broadleaved Forest was 1.42 % (11.46,28 há) and the Forest of Pine 0.26 % (85,49 há) for the period 2003-2010. Despite the Management Plan of the PANACAM, in this document demonstrates than still lacking actions that can improve the quality of the park ecosystems and an annual monitoring human activities in order to indicate priority areas for reduction actions, mitigation and recovery.
